COVID-19 How Photographers Can Help
This pandemic has gripped our planet and has many of us in a state of fear and panic. Let’s talk about COVID-19 and how photographers can help.
As photographers, we have the ability to lift people up with our images. I urge you to post to social media more than you normally would. Give people who are struggling a little hope and a distraction from the chaos.
What can we do as photographers to help others during this Coronavirus crisis? Especially if we are locked inside our homes, unable to go out? I think that we can help just by doing what we have always done – taking photos.
Recently I have started posting more of my photos to social media. On Facebook, I am posting to my business pages and my personal profile. I have even gone back to Instagram and started posting on that account again, after leaving it dormant for a few weeks.
I am doing this because I believe it can help people.
If you have spent any time on Facebook or any other social media recently, you will have seen that the conversation around COVID-19 has taken over. There are constant memes, videos, news reports, and posts from people talking about the virus. It’s easy to get caught up in that and become very despondent and even depressed.
Photography is a powerful medium that has the ability to change someone’s emotions. I hope to do that in a positive way during this terrible time.
Get busy! You don’t have to go out and take new photos to post. If you are in lock-down – get to your computer. If you are like me, you probably have a backlog of images well into the tens of thousands?! Start editing them and flood social media with beautiful images.
I know this will lift people up. Join me in making social media a better place during this global crisis.
